Most Wanted:
1. Honesty
One thing that people is looking for nowadays is honesty.
A romantic couple is often having a quarrel against each other with dishonesty as its foundation.
Based on environmental research, the advertisements placed in electronic or non-electronic media most of the time is filled with lies, just for the sake of the company owner's fatness of the wallet.
What is 'honesty' anyway?
Republika Online mentions, "honesty is the foundation for a nation to move forward".
Albert Hendra Wijaya, the master of Taoism, considers honesty as "to admit, say or give information based on the fact and truth"
As for me, explanation about honesty is as shown below,
Let your yes be yes,
and say no more,
as apart from that cannot be considered as honest.. it is sin too.
That, I just re-tell what my Father has told me.
Is honesty so important in our social life?
Necessary?
The following is the battle between my two similar friends (but not really similar) during my 2-3 years in senior high school. Similar as they are playboys, indifferent in terms as honesty.
Person A
One reason I position this person as one of my featured friends is his honesty.
It is definitely true that this guy will have a big red F mark in norm-ology. How come? Pure playboy! Sometimes I will just fed up with what he says. Well, since this article is about honesty, I will try to mention what he used to talk about (*fingers crossed*). And I ask for your humble apology for this beforehand.
For what he says:
'Amazing body'
'Her size is 30D' (cant tell you what it is, but girls should know)
'Wow, so pretty'
And remember. For his honesty, the followings are also said. Bad things. Bad.
'I wonder if someone will marry her?'
'Which part of her is pretty? So ugly'
'Too bad. Sure she's pretty, but evil'
Not to mention his behaviour. Wow-y.. Jaw-dropping when I saw a girl doing that 'thing' to him, and he retaliate with that same 'thing'. Curious? Sorry, kids. But grandpa can say no more about this. Grandpa might get sued by Unicef.
Even though A seems like a Incredibly Hulky playboy, he has a kind heart.
In addition, I have no doubt in sharing my romantic story with my girlfriend to him.
Imagine you share your romance story to a playboy. Weird, isn't it?
However, he can understand, give support, give me a push.. even give a warning, especially if I walk to far.
Til here.. what do you think?
Do you get his personality? His characters?
If in this moment, A says to you that you are smart, do you believe him?
Person B
Compare A to this playboy. One who does the spiritual activity, but hoping to get a girl as the motivation. That's about him.. playboy B.
As for what he says:
'I have to close to them (girls) because I have to (serve who he worship)'
'Am I handsome?' (asking girls)
'Well, lots of guys chase her, right?' (only a few, including himself for sure)
And for his behaviour..
- He sets a schedule to come to girl A, B, C, D, etc everyday, and weekly.
- Broke his relationship with the current lover, and got another one.
- After getting no luck with this 'another one', he broke again and in 2 months, he was seen close to another girl.
Scary.. or should I say.. gross.
Imagine.. if in this moment, this person is in front of you and say that you are smart, do you believe him?
The fact as the results:
1. Girls enjoy hangs out with A, instead of B.
No girls became the victim of A, but more best girl friends to A.
Wait, dont you think A will victimize those girls? Based on my 3-year-time in high school.. None. He is honest, and everyone knows his heart. Should we worry about him?
More and more girls became the victim of B. And until this time, B is still victimizing more and more girls. (mention the plurality and not singularity)
2. What A says is from his heart, so we believe him fully.
On the other hand, playboy B? His victims, me, and some other has a full doubt to him. Congrats!
3. The funny-yet-shocking news is.. as a playboy, A didn't even hesitate to warn and yell at B to stop doing the spiritual activity as it is simply hypocrite.
Amazing. Playboy warns the other playboy. Incredible. Until now, I still have my respect to A, as I myself didnt have enough courage to yell to B for his hypocrisy like what A did. I just cannot stress my astonishment to his honesty to words. Perhaps it is Wonderfully superb.
Ok, stop! I am not asking you guys to be an honest playboy. (You !@#$!@#$)
Hamartia man.. hamartia! (Hercules word for 'mistake' or 'missing the point')
Those are just the happy positive part which I can be proud of from A.
Of course there are drawbacks of him being a playboy.. but it is just irrelevant here.
Maybe in future articles, grandpa will tell more bedtime story about this. ;D
Another simple twist about honesty.
Watch how Simon Cowell judge in American Idol.
So harsh, but isn't it true?
'You can't sing'
'I rather do
and so on.
Yet, people of his choice are no doubt those with great voice, if not the best.
Honesty is closely related to trust.
The more you being honest, the more people will trust you.
Nonetheless.. ONCE you lie about a thing, they will have a difficult time to trust you again.
Thus, be honest always.
Dont bear false witness to your neighbor.
The big Q:
It's true that one cannot change everything in just one day.
All things need a process.. a process which is started by a mere decision between Yes and No.
Do you want to be honest?
Recommended Movie
Have you ever watched Liar Liar?
Fletcher Reede (played by Jim Carrey) is a lawyer and a father of a son, Max, thou he has divorced his wife.
More and more lies, he 'offers' to people around him. Clients, ex-wife, and even his son.
Tired of his father's record of lies, Max in his birthday asks for one wish. That his father cannot like in mere one day.. and this wish is granted by the Creator.
Before this article turns to be movie-review, allow me to explain my point. You should watch Max happiness when he knows that his wish becoming true. For just one day, he finally experiences having a non-liar-father.
From the child's point of view,
Are you, as your parent's child, happy to have parents who are always honest to you, especially when it comes to promise to take you somewhere, promise to play with you, promise to buy you toys or dolls?
From the parent's point of view,
Are /will you, as a parent (or parent-wannabe), cheat your children by being dishonest, destroying their trust to you as their protector, or even as their hero?
Now, man should be glad that the Father who creates this tiny world is always honest. Never speak nonsense.
One thing remains.. do you believe that He never lies?
Your life, your choice.
